This case is an additional instance of the futility of private charities. Even when established by law, and provided with the conservative apparatus of visitation, inspection and whatever else ingenuity could contrive, these misdirected efforts of benevolence have conduced but to the emolument of the agents entrusted with their care. So will it ever be where the vision of the visitor is not sharpened by individual interest.
