This is a capital direct appeal deriving from the killing of Wendy Miller, the mother of Appellant’s child, on December 16, 2001.

In the relevant time period, Appellant committed crimes in both Lawrence and Butler Counties. Initially, he was tried and convicted on drug and firearms charges in Butler, with the instant litigation ensuing in Lawrence, on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, interference with custody of children, as well as related offenses.
