Material facts alleged in the complaint and admitted for the purposes of this reservation may be summarized as follows: The plaintiffs are all of the public hospitals in New Haven. They are all charitable corporations chartered by the General Assembly; all of their property is held and administered for charitable uses; their income is derived from voluntary private contributions, State support, and pay or part pay from patients who are able to pay, but many indigent persons are cared for by each hospital free of charge.
