On September 13,1999, petitioner-appellant Howard Krantz, pro se and in forma pauperis, filed a timely notice of appeal from a July 30, 1999 order of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York (Gleeson, J.) denying his habeas corpus petition under 28 U.S.C. § 2255. While petitioner’s motion for a certificate of appealability was pending before this Court, we received notice of petitioner’s death.
