Wood v. . Chapin

This was an action of trespass,"commenced in the supreme court prior to July, 1848, for breaking the plaintiff’s close, and cutting and carrying away trees and timber. Plea, not guilty. The premises were wild and uncultivated lands, lying in Steuben county, and the question was as to the legal title. William Helm was the source of title under whom both parties claimed the premises; and he, on the 11th August, 1826, conveyed the same, being a tract of 470 ■ acres, to George W.
