Defendant, Scott Wisslead, convicted by a jury in MeDonough County for unlawful restraint, aggravated assault, and assault, was sentenced to consecutive probationary terms. On appeal, the appellate court affirmed defendant’s conviction for aggravated assault but vacated the assault conviction as a lesser included offense. (The State conceded that it was error to sentence the defendant for assault.) The appellate court also reversed defendant’s unlawful-restraint conviction, holding that the information charging unlawful restraint did not sufficiently specify the nature of the offense charged.…
