NAHMIAS, Justice.

Pennenton R. Mills, Jr., was convicted of malice murder and other crimes arising out of the shooting death of his girlfriend, Aisa Moye. He raises three issues in this appeal. For the reasons that follow, we affirm.

1. The evidence at trial, viewed in the light most favorable to the verdict, showed the following.

Mills lived in a townhouse with the victim and her two-year-old son. Two months before the victim’s death, the police were called to the residence, where the victim said that after she resisted Mills’s sexual advances, he grabbed her around the neck, squeezed her face,…
