This case involves a dispute between two factions of the St. Simon Romanian Orthodox Church. The plaintiffs represent the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America (hereafter called Episcopate) headed by Bishop Valerian Trifa. The defendants are represented by Father Mihai Iancu who is the leader of the St. Simon Independent Romanian Orthodox Church which separated from the Episcopate.
