The plaintiff-appellant, Brian Bacon, appeals from the district court’s grant of summary judgment to the defendant-ap-pellee, the United States of America. Bacon brought suit against the United States, seeking monetary damages under the Federal Tort Claims Act, 28 U.S.C. §§ 1346(b), 2671 et seq., (“FTCA”), for injuries allegedly caused by the negligence of a federal corrections officer who was supervising Bacon while he was incarcerated at the Ray Brook Federal Correctional Institution.
