Keland Shelton (appellant) was convicted following a bench trial of assault and battery of a law-enforcement officer in violation of Code § 18.2-57(0 and escape from custody by force or violence in violation of Code § 18.2-478. The trial court sentenced appellant to a total of ten years in prison, with eight years and one month suspended. The trial court also ordered appellant to “make restitution in the amount of $9,281.72 to the victim” for injuries sustained by Lieutenant Davis.
