February 24, 1909, A. H. Leonard and wife, and Clarence Ellerbie, being the owners of certain lands in the parish of Caddo consisting of some 5,000 acres, gave to the Busch-Everett Company a mineral lease thereon, which under the decision of this court in the case of Chadwick v. Standard Oil Co. (No. 22667) 147 La. 668, 85 South. 633, permitted the lessee, for a period of six years, to explore for oil and gas upon the payment of a certain yearly rental.
