| ^¿Defendant, Kevin Strickland, appeals his conviction for second degree battery. On June 3, 2010, defendant was charged by bill of information with second degree battery, a violation of La. R.S. 14:34.1, and resisting a police officer with force or violence, in violation of La. R.S. 14:108.2. Defendant pleaded not guilty to these charges at arraignment. On February 15, 2011, the matter proceeded to trial and a six-person jury returned a unanimous verdict of guilty of the lesser offense of resist*413ing an officer1 and guilty as charged of second degree battery.…
