The action below was assumpsit and was tried by one of the judges of the municipal court of the County of Philadelphia sitting without a jury. The finding was in favor of the plaintiffs for the full amount of their claim; the defendants, claiming that they have a valid defense but were not permitted to prove it by reason of the rulings of the trial judge upon certain offers of evidence made, and questions asked, in their behalf, have appealed.
