TORRUELLA, Circuit Judge.

Thomas Steele, petitioner-appellant, appeals the district court’s denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. After careful review, we affirm.

I. Background

Thomas Steele was indicted by a grand jury for seven counts of aggravated rape, two counts of kidnaping, two counts of assault and battery, five counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and armed robbery. On October 14, 1982, Steele pleaded guilty to these charges. The plea was accepted and Steele was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than twelve years and not more than thirty…
