Petitioner William Gilday was convicted of first degree murder and two counts of armed robbery for his involvement 25 years ago in a notorious bank robbery in which Boston Police Officer Walter A. Schroeder was killed. This habeas case, originally filed in 1981, was reactivated after disposition of the last of his four unsuccessful motions for new trial in the Massachusetts courts.
