The appellant challenges his conviction for possession of cocaine and raises numerous issues, three of which we find have merit.

On the morning of the scheduled docket call (Monday), the appellant appeared in court with his public defender, who informed the judge that the appellant had “indicated that he has hired a private attorney.” The judge refused to entertain the matter: “And [the private lawyer is] not here this morning so ...
