The defendant, Jose L. Sanchez, was convicted of aggravated battery with a firearm (720 ILCS 5/12 — 4.2(a)(2) (West 2004)) in case No. 05 — CF—1512. The defendant was also convicted of aggravated discharge of a firearm (720 ILCS 5/24 — 1.2(a)(2) (West 2006)) and unlawful possession of a firearm (720 ILCS 5/24 — 3.1(a)(2) (West 2006)) in case No. 06 — CF—829. The trial court sentenced the defendant to 19 years in prison for aggravated battery with a firearm in case No. 05 — CF—1512.
