These consolidated cases arise from a contract dispute between petitioner gas-producer Mobil Exploration & Producing North America, Inc. (Mobil) and petitioner gas-purchaser ANR Pipeline Company (ANR). Mobil, alleging that the contracts governing its gas sales to ANR expired on October 24, 1980, sought a price increase effective retroactively as of that date.
