The Government seeks an order compelling the defendant, Alrick Roberts, to undergo testing to determine if he is infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the causative agent of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The objective of the requested procedure is to inform the complaining witness, an alleged rape victim, whether the defendant has exposed her to the virus.
