Twenty years ago, in 1970, the Legislature added a sentence to § 151 of the bail chapter (chapter V of the Code of Criminal Procedure) concerning forfeiture of bond or bail, providing that the court shall set aside a forfeiture if the person released on bail is apprehended within one year, the ends of justice have not been thwarted, and the county has been repaid the cost of apprehending the person.
