KAROHL, Judge.

Defendant, Steven L. Braggs, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, in violation of section 195.202 RSMo 1994. A jury found him guilty. The trial court sentenced him to serve twelve years as a prior and persistent offender. Defendant contends the trial court erred in prohibiting him from calling a witness to testify on his behalf, or if the witness asserted his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination, to intro*645duce a prior statement of the witness. We affirm.
