In this appeal, we address the district court clerk’s authority to prepare and file a notice of appeal on an appellant’s behalf. We conclude that the district court clerk lacks authority to prepare and *88file a notice of appeal on an appellant’s behalf unless authorized by statute or court rule. There are two relevant examples.
