Appellees (plaintiffs), Patricia Schmal, individually and as next friend for her four minor children, Donald J. Schmal, Kurt James Schmal, Mark Richard Schmal and Jennifer Lynn Schmal, the surviving widow and children of Richard J. Schmal, brought this suit for damages for the death of Richard J. Schmal which occurred while he was working on a large piercing press for his employer, the Lone Star Steel Company, in Morris County, Texas.
