On May 26th 1939, Alexander L. Redden received personal injuries in an automobile accident, which occurred on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Jefferson Parish on the Old Spanish Trail highway, when a Plymouth automobile driven by Dr. W. Jay Elmer, in which Redden was riding as a passenger, collided head-on with a Ford automobile owned and operated by Joseph A. Blythe.
