Allen Lee Underwood appeals a final order denying his amended motion for damages, costs, and attorney’s fees following the voluntary dismissal by the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office (the PCSO) of a forfeiture proceeding involving a 2006 Pontiac Solstice owned by Mr. Underwood. We affirm but write to explain our holding and to point out what appears to be an inequity in the statutory scheme applicable to forfeiture proceedings in effect at the time of the underlying proceedings.
