The plaintiff and defendant are husband and wife. The defendant was driving his car on the highway. His daughter, Linda, was a passenger in the rear seat. The plaintiff, who was pregnant, "was standing at the curb in front of her home a short distance away from the approaching car when she saw the right door of the car open and her daughter, Linda, fall out of the car landing on her face and stomach."
