This suit was brought in the. name of the State, on the relation of James Singer, who is described in the complaint as a resident of Ripley county, and a qualified voter thereof, against the clerk, sheriff, and auditor of Ripley county, for an alternative writ of mandate requiring each of these officers to show cause why ho should not be compelled to perform the duties imposed upon him by law in regard to the election of senators and representatives to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 1904, under the act of February 25, 1897, fixing the number of senators *570and representatives to the General…
