The defendant, Luis Fernando Lopez, appealed to the Appellate Court from the trial court’s judgment of conviction, following a jury trial, of three counts of risk of injury to a child in violation of General *726Statutes (Rev. to 1999) § 53-21 (2).1 Following the decision of the Appellate Court reversing the judgment of conviction and remanding the case for a new trial; State v.
