The New Orleans Land & Investment Company, Inc., sued Oliver Montagnet and Stephen J. Le Blanc, in solido, alleging that it was the holder and owner for value before maturity of their joint note. While this suit was pending in the district court, the company was placed in the hands of a receiver, who was directed and ordered by the civil district court to sell the assets of the corporation, as shown by the inventory.
