MEMORANDUM OPINION This case stems from a tragic accident in which two roommates, Nina Brekelmans and Michael Patrick McLoughlin, were killed in a fire at 1610 Riggs Place, NW, Washington, D.C. — a property that was rented to them by debtor and Appellee Max Salas. After the estates of Brekelmans and McLoughlin were awarded substantial monetary damages in a wrongful death suit, Max Salas filed for bankruptcy.…
