Plaintiff, Josephine Melko, appeals a trial court order dismissing her complaint for common-law fraud against defendant, Ray M. Dionisio. Plaintiff alleged that defendant engaged in a scheme to defraud her by selling her corporate notes that he misrepresented as “CDs.” Defendant moved pursuant to section 2 — 619(a)(5) of the Code of Civil Procedure (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 110, par. 2 — 619(a)(5)) to dismiss the complaint as barred by the five-year statute of limitations for fraud (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 110, par. 13 — 205).
