On December 15, 1976, an automobile driven by Sherrie Lynn Lamphier collided with a school bus operated by Rhonda Laverne Frederick and owned by defendant Lapeer Public School System. Plaintiff Elizabeth Harris was a passenger in the Lamphier automobile.
