On March 7, 1916, the plaintiff obtained a judgment by confession, in vacation, against the defendants upon three promissory notes for a total amount of $2,373.50 and costs. Later on the defendants entered a motion in the Circuit Court of Marion county, Illinois, to vacate said judgment and for leave to plead therein. Leave was granted to the defendants to file pleas to the merits of the case but the judgment was not vacated. The defendants filed the plea of general issue and a special plea.
