This is an original petition filed in this court for a writ of mandamus against the Auditor of Public Accounts. The petition alleges relator was appointed January 9, 1917, by-the Attorney General of Illinois assistant Attorney General of Illinois at a salary fixed by law at $5000 per year, payable in monthly installments, and that since that time he has continued to be, and now is, such officer; that his duties are to see to the enforcement of the Inheritance Tax law in Cook county, by which act petitioner’s salary was fixed.
