This is a petition by a mother for the appointment of herself as guardian of the person of her infant daughter. The father, who at the date of the filing of the petition had the actual possession and custody of the child, resists the application. The proceedings were instituted before a circuit judge of the first circuit, sitting as the court of domestic relations, and that tribunal, after a very lengthy trial (the testimony is recorded in a transcript of 965 pages) at which all available testimony and other evidence was adduced, considerable portions of it perhaps being immaterial, awarded…
