On October 24, 1895, Christina Huber, the appellant, and John Huber, her husband, being indebted to E. S. Dreyer & Co. in the sum of $14,000 as principal and $434 accrued interest thereon, and to Kemper' Brothers in the sum of $4,000, executed their promissory note payable to the order of themselves for the: sum of $18,000, due in five years from its date, with interest thereon at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum,payable semiannually at the office of Kemper Broth-' ers, Chicago, Illinois.
