The bankrupt act provided, in effect, that, with the exception of certain exempt property, the adjudication in bankruptcy, the appointment of the assignee, and the requisite assignment to him by the judge or register, should, by operation of law, vest the title to all the estate, real and personal, of the bankrupt in the assignee, with all his deeds, books, and papers relating thereto, and that such assignment should relate back to the commencement of the proceedings in bankruptcy.
