The facts in this case are undisputed. The plaintiff’s husband, James B. Canterbury, procured from the defendant three policies of insurance on his own life— one for $2,000, dated December 5, 1874; another for $2,000, dated June 1G, 1876; and another for $3,000, dated September 24, 1878 — and it was stated in each of said policies, in effect, that it was “for the benefit” of “his wife,” the plaintiff in this action, for the amount stated therein, for the term of his natural life, and this defendant therein promised and agreed “to pay the said sum assured, at its office, to the said…
