Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Marrus, J.), rendered January 3, 2001, convicting him of rape in the first degree (four counts), upon a jury verdict, and imposing sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.

Contrary to the defendant’s contention, his Antommarchi rights (see People v Antommarchi, 80 NY2d 247 [1992]) were not violated by the court giving the defendant the choice between absenting himself from bench and/or sidebar conferences, or not allowing any prospective jurors to approach the bench during the voir dire.
