CRAVEN, Circuit Judge:

Appellants were found guilty of violations of 18 U.S.C.A. § 241.1 The indictment charged that during the congressional elections of November 1966 the defendants knowingly conspired to cause votes to be cast in Lee County, Virginia, in violation of the absentee voting laws of Virginia, resulting in the return and certification of illegal ballots, which, in turn, diminished and diluted the effect of votes legally cast.
