PUTNAM, District Judge.
In a trial which began March 14, 1966, Russell Alexander was convicted of the murder of Mrs. Aline Buillard Carter and sentenced to death. He has petitioned for a writ of habeas corpus in this court, alleging that his conviction and sentence are unlawful for two reasons: (1) his conviction was based on confessions which should not have been received in evidence, and (2) veniremen were excluded from his jury for cause simply because they voiced general objections to the death penalty, in violation of Witherspoon v.
