WINTER, Circuit Judge:
This appeal and cross-appeal require us principally to decide whether sanctions of *1455$200,000 were properly imposed under Rule 11, Fed.R.Civ.P., on an attorney, his firm and his client. We also address the question of whether sanctions may be imposed under 28 U.S.C. § 1927 after a case has been settled and dismissed. The sanctioned attorney, Ray L. LeFlore, appeals from Judge Sweet’s award of $50,000 in sanctions against him individually and $73,-000 ($50,000 under Rule 11, $23,000 under Section 1927) against his now-dissolved law firm, Pavelic & LeFlore.
