STEWART, Justice:

The Stahelis, plaintiffs in this action, hired the defendant, Farmers’ Cooperative of Southern Utah (Coop), to store 328,470 lbs. of barley pursuant to an oral contract of bailment. Fire of an unknown origin destroyed the warehouse and a large part of the stored grain. Other farmers who stored grain in the warehouse and sustained losses in the fire assigned their claims to the Sta-helis who sued the Coop for the total amount of the loss.
