1 Defendant, Luis Enrique Guzman-Rin-con, appeals the jury verdicts finding him guilty of six counts of attempted extreme indifference murder (crime of violence). Under the ctreumstances presented in this case, we conclude that defendant's Sixth Amendment right to counsel and his Fourteenth Amendment right to be present at critical stages of the proceedings were violated. Accordingly, we reverse defendant's conviction, vacate his sentence, and remand for a new trial,
