The plaintiff claims that the defendant failed to pay rent pursuant to an oral month to CT Page 2277 month lease for six months between September 1994 and August 1995. The plaintiff has stipulated that the defendant paid the rent for every month due in 1995 except March and August. The defendant claims that he paid the rent for four other months, two by check and two in cash, and that in a month in which he did not pay the rent, he paid a water bill.
