From a careful reading of the evidence in this case, I am convinced that the opinion which we have handed down, overruling the three decisions in which we had interpreted the Act 207 of 1906, will not only tend to destroy the lawyers’ faith in our jurisprudence, but will make the defendant widow pay a very doubtful claim against her husband’s estate.

The majority opinion, from which I have dissented, reads as if Dr. Hava had sued on a quantum meruit, for the value of professional services actually rendered. But that is not the casé. The suit was on an alleged verbal contract, and the attorney…
