KENYON, Circuit Judge.

The United States brought this action against appellant, Victor Westling-, to quiet title to and recover possession of some tracts of land comprising about ninety-six acres, located within what was formerly the Leech Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota. The tracts involved, known as lots numbered 10, 11, and 12, in section 25, and lot 2 in section 36, all in township 143 north, range 29, west of the Fifth P.
