The defendant, Sidney Foster, was charged by indictment for the murder of Vivian Patterson in violation of section 9 — 1(a)(2) of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1971, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1(a)(2)), and charged with concealment of the victim’s homicidal death in violation of section 9 — 3.1 of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1971, ch. 38, par. 9 — 3.1). Following a jury trial, the defendant was found guilty of both offenses and was sentenced to concurrent terms of imprisonment of 125 to 250 years and 2 to 6 years.
