At the January term, 1923, of the circuit court of Rock Island county an indictment was returned against John P. Looney, Harry M. Schriver, John K. Scott, Thomas Cox, Lawrence Pedigo and Robert Kinner for conspiracy to furnish punch-boards and other gaming devices to divers persons and divers keepers of houses of prostitution and to protect them from arrest and keep them free from police molestation while they were engaged in the city of Rock Island in the keeping, maintenance and operation of such gaming devices, saloons, gaming houses and houses of prostitution.
