On December 31, 1930, Livingston Brothers, a copartnership, were engaged in buying and selling feed cattle in Marion county, Iowa. At that time they arranged to secure a loan from the National Livestock Credit Corporation through its representative, the Texas Livestock Marketing Association, of St. Joseph, Missouri, and executed their promissory note of $13,226. to the National Livestock Credit Corporation, secured by a chattel mortgage covering the 183 head of steers then purchased.
